Why There’s Always an Elephant in Our Space 🐘🤎

If you’ve ever visited Scentify Essence at one of our vendor events, you’ve probably noticed the elephants. They have become a signature part of our booth setup, and I can’t tell you how many times someone has walked up and asked me, “Why elephants?” “Are you a Delta?”  “Do they mean something to you?” “I see you love elephants!” And my favorite one is always, “Can I buy your elephant?” 

So I thought it was finally time to answer the question and share the story behind them.

When I started Scentify Essence, I wasn’t simply starting a candle business. This business was born during one of the hardest seasons of my life. After losing my mother to lung cancer, I was navigating grief and depression and trying to find my way through a season I never expected to experience. Creating became part of my healing, and what started as something that helped me through that difficult time eventually grew into Scentify Essence.

As the business started growing and I began vending at different events, I knew I wanted our booth to be more than just a table with candles on it. I wanted it to feel like a space. I wanted people to walk up and immediately feel something. I wanted it to feel beautiful, welcoming, personal and full of love. I wanted people to get a little piece of the Scentify Essence story when they stepped into our space.

That’s when the elephants became part of our setup.

Elephants with their trunks raised are traditionally associated with good luck, prosperity, blessings, success and positive energy. That symbolism really spoke to me because those are the things I want to represent through Scentify Essence. I want this business to continue growing. I want it to bring good energy into people’s spaces and into their lives. I want it to represent abundance, beautiful beginnings and the belief that something beautiful can come from something painful.

But honestly, the elephants mean even more to me because of my mother.

I wanted my mother to be a part of this business because this business was birthed from her. My mother loved home décor. She loved beautiful things. She loved fragrances and anything that made a space smell good. And I love those things too. We both loved décor. We both loved fragrance. We both loved a good smelling candle. So when I started creating Scentify Essence, it just felt divine to bring some of the things we both loved together.

In a way, I get to carry a piece of her with me through this business.

Every time I create a new fragrance, set up a booth or decorate our space for an event, I think about her. When someone compliments our décor or asks about the elephants, I get an opportunity to share a little bit of her story too.

That’s why I don’t see the elephants as just décor.

They are part of the experience.

They are part of the story.

They are part of the love behind Scentify Essence.

When you walk into our booth and see the elephants standing there with their trunks raised, I hope you see more than something pretty. I hope you see good energy, prosperity, growth, love and new beginnings. And for me personally, I hope you see a little piece of the woman who helped inspire so much of who I am today.

My mother may not physically be here to see what Scentify Essence has become, but she is still a part of every chapter.

This business started in a place of grief, but it has grown into something filled with creativity, purpose, love and healing. It became something that allowed me to take something painful and create something beautiful from it.

So yes, there will probably always be an elephant somewhere in our space. 🐘🤎

Because they remind me where I came from, why I started and who I’m carrying with me on this journey.

Scentify Essence has always been about more than candles. It’s about creating an experience, creating beautiful fragrances for your spaces and creating from a place of purpose.

And now, when you see those elephants at one of our events, you’ll know there’s a story behind them.

A business born from grief.

A brand built with love.

A space created with purpose.
